As part of its continuing statutory revision program, the council has engaged in a nonsubstantive revision of the Texas Racing Act (Article 179e, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes) as Subtitle A‐1, Title 13, Occupations Code. The 69th Legislature enacted the Texas Racing Act in 1986 during the Second Called Session to establish the Texas Racing Commission, regulate the conduct and licensing of horse racing and greyhound racing in this state, and authorize and regulate pari‐mutuel wagering on horse racing and greyhound racing in this state.
The following legislation relating to the nonsubstantive revision of the Texas Racing Act as Subtitle A-1, Title 13, Occupations Code, was enacted by the 85th Legislature in 2017 and takes effect April 1, 2019.
